What's in front of the lens is just as important as who's behind it

Particular doesn't even begin to describe how I am with photography. From day one of wedding planning I knew most of our itty bitty wedding budget money would be spent on a good photographer. When looking for a photographer most people look at a portfolio (very important) and recent sample work (also very important) and often forget to see or even care whether or not you and your photographer hit it off.

The latter was very important to me because I know that good photographs start with a good relationship with your photographer. Your photographer will solely be responsible for all the tangible evidence of your wedding many years down the line. How she does her job will be exactly what you'll have to show for your wedding. If a photographer is happy with her job you'll see it in her work. If she's not into it you'll see it too. What's in front of the lens is just as important as who is behind it.

Even though liking her job wasn't necessarily a pre-requisite to be hired to shoot at my wedding it definitely wouldn't hurt.

Luckily I found Ashley Colhouer Photography. Ashley recently moved down to South Florida from Atlanta and had posted an introduction on The Knot. I decided to check her out and I'm happy I did.

Ashley Colhouer is run by Ashley and her husband Phillip. Together they have a kick ass blog dedicated to their wedding related work. Stalking Ashley's blog is how I came across a destination wedding she shot in Jamaica.
How can anyone not love Ashley's work? She's got a great eye and loves color.
What sealed the deal was meeting Ashley in person. She's such a sweet and spunky person I knew she'd be perfect to shoot our wedding. She is so into her job it's crazy... I love this lady.
